I want to start off by explaining what the 7 Day Shadow Challenge is…
I haven’t heard of this before I just decided I needed to get refocused on myself and my business.
So, what I did was take seven days and unplug from all of my social media sites. I did log onto to twitter to send some tweets back and forth with some people for some guidance along with responding to messages on FB and a few other platforms. But, absolutely no content consumption.
The reason for this is that it allowed me to focus on staying positive for one week. I’ll tell you once you realize how much negativity comes from certain things and give yourself a week away from it, it will clear your mind up and prep you for a great mindset!
Now, I’m not saying I sat around the house and did nothing for a week. I worked my but off last week! From finalizing two different books (The proofs should be in today so I can see the physical copies) to working on redesigning this site and prepping for all the content I’m going to be rolling out for you all.
I took the week to focus on execution. Some of it wasn’t executing at that specific time. I was focused on automating more of the process. So that I could execute more and be more productive while I move forward.
The take away from the Seven Day Shadow Challenge…
Do It! lol
I’ve been able to get my mind on a level it has not been for years. I found some hidden depression I was fighting because I was focused on all the wrong stuff inside my mind. I found myself being more productive because I wasn’t stopping every hour or so to see what John or Susan had to say on social media. When I started thinking about stopping to check on social media, I would start either creating a new to do list or I would wrap up my current to do list.
It sounds crazy but honestly, I’ve been so much more productive in the last week than I have been in a long time.
Now that I’ve covered how the week went, I want to urge you to do the same. Now, some of you use social media to check in with family and things like that … if that is the case, by all means … don’t forget your family.
The only recommendation I have to share with you is to be intentional with your social media usage. Set a timer and only allow yourself “X” minutes for social media consumption… while you are on the clock…
Remember I am a huge supporter of social media so I’m not saying “Don’t Use Social”… all I’m saying is to remember that if you are using social media to grow your business or brand, it is not an open calling to spend 45 minutes going through your feed on Instagram after you post … EVERYTIME! … :)
I am done with this one …. So have yourself an awesome day and I’ll catch you in a bit!
